Articles - don't under estimate their impact

Articles can be frustrating, being able to find something to talk about is a pain in itself. Similar to blogs.. but with blogs you can put add sales pitches and your own views... Articles is a little more tricky.

But why this talk of articles..

Simply put they make amazing backlinks to your website helping you with your search engine optimisation. Articles differ slightly to blogs as they are posted onto websites that analyse your content,  deciding on what you can and can't put in.

They make for a frustrating write, but are worth their time and effort. Most will allow a back link to your site, some allow a back link with your key phrase in. The main reason they are so good.. their Page Rank, most average 3 some as high as 8. Their traffic rank too is pretty amazing usually within 10,000's rather than millions or like most websites n/a.

Page rank being high and traffic ranking being good it's well worth getting on the article writing boat for a great backlink.

But I don't have time..

Make time! Remember long term goals are as important as short term, the articles take time to write, you'll guaranteed to be rejected first time and have to re-write a few parts, but once they get into the sites with such high PR and traffic then it won't be long before the search engines are all over your site.

I have nothing to write about..

You have, you are just not trying hard enough. Every individual, company can share some wisdom on what they do. New ideas, new technologies, new techniques in your industry or even speak about the old ones.. You've just learnt something new.. share it! I think you get the idea. No excuse now. Go write some articles and add submit them to article websites. All will be good in the world again.

Complimenting online activities with offline merchandise

Complimenting online activities with offline merchandise

Bear with us.. this is possible. We are not talking about branding here people, this is a wee bit of common sense and some food for thought for you lovely people.

We work closely with a promotional company, well they own us, so that's pretty close. We deal closely with their websites and have been handed some cool tings which we believe not only help in a promotional sense but drive traffic to your website and enhance what you do..

1. Promotional USB Sticks

Branded with your logo and containing your data.. maybe a local version of your website linking into your website. Perhaps a branded presentation that leads to your website or blog or twitter or facebook or you get the idea..?

2. Clever Promotional Keyrings

Why print just your logo, why not a funky QR code? Scan it to your website..

So that's modern take on promoting your website offline.. want the clever bit.

Think of your offline promotion as a traffic drive.. ok? Adverts, promotional mugs, keyrings etc.. how exactly are you going to know if they have driven traffic? Quite simple.. dedicate a page to it or  re-direct. If it's not your site maybe it's your twitter so setup a hashtag and advertise that. You can then see through either web stats or tweets how successful that campaign or item has become.

And with that opened up we will leave you to have a jolly good think about it!

Why oh why should I bother with Facebook, and Twitter as a business?

Why oh why should I bother with Facebook, and Twitter and all the blah blah blah...?

Well we believe 2 reasons, first of all it's an extension of your corporate identity, you can build audiences you previously could not. Post your messages, offers, good deeds etc and show what a nice company you are.

The second is the advantage these sites are huge in terms of traffic. So much so Google has it's own dedicated team of robots looking at the sites 24/7. In terms of traffic ranking Facebook is pretty much the daddy, Google itself comes in 2nd. Twitter is down in 8th and Linked in is 12th. To find out more have a look at the top 500 sites here: http://www.alexa.com/topsites

With such high traffic rankings these sites effectively give Google and other search engines direct links back to your site.. Increasing your traffic rank and giving Google Bot something to look at.

Well we hope that sorts that, if you need any more help with your search engine optimisation then let us know..

Recent SEO stuff

Hi Guys,

Going to be a brief post, I know we don't post regularly enough, but still hopefully what we do post is golden to you in some way!

At present we are helping sites compete on keywords such as wedding jewellery, bridal jewellery, pearl bracelets and crystal jewellery. Some of which are in their infancy and some of which are flying high at the top of Google. But we've started to notice a huge pattern with Google and Alexa. The link was always there and adjustments to the Alexa ranking helped maybe 5% in the overall scheme of things. Recently however the Alexa rankings seem to have a huge influence on Google pre and post Penguin.

For example, a recent key phrase has been want to sell my van, within 1 week of releasing the brand new site we had hit the top ten and experimented using Alexa rankings only. Ok the site was in order meta and content wise, but generally this only occurs after a good time after being launched.

Anyway, just a quick food for thought post. We hope you enjoyed.
